This is a compulsively readable novel, narrated by Annie, a lonely, clumsy, obese woman with a murky past. She moves into a new neighbourhood and attempts to ingratiate herself with Neil, her new neighbour. She is a student of self-help literature and romance novels, and, although she wants to start afresh, her past is never too far behind her. Reading this novel, one is plagued by a sense of intrigue and unease, the tension builds to a shattering climax.

I read this book about a morbidly obese, lonely and hopeful woman who moves next door to a young couple and proceeds to make their life a living hell because I thought it sounded intriguing and a quote from Alison Flood of the guardian.co.uk on the back cover said it was being compared to Notes on a Scandal. I didn't really like it and found myself skimming through just to get to the end.
