Rosie Boycott is an accomplished British newspaper editor who founded the feminist magazine Spare Rib in the 70's and was co-founder of the publishing house Virago. She is also a 'recovering alcoholic' and this is her story, first published in 1984. Written when she was 30 and having just come out of a mental clinic, Rosie tells of her slow decline into alcoholism all the while working, travelling, and partying. I started reading this book just because I had nothing else to read but quickly found myself drawn into Rosie's crazy life and propensity for alcohol and drugs. Recommended to those who like biographies that delve into addiction and mental illness.
