Crusoe : Daniel Defoe, Robert Knox and the creation of a myth by Katherine Frank

Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe created a myth that today is available in every written language.  Katherine Frank retrieved forgotten details from oblivion giving readers an understanding of Danial Defoe, the writer of Robinson Crusoe, and Robert Knox, who was Crusoe, 1659-80, who published his own account of his survival in 1681.  Together they have captured today's yearnings for dreams of escape, connection and survival.  This is a really good and informative read.
