This is the 1st book in the series featuring the "Peculiar Crimes Unit" which is a police division that was founded in the Blitz of World War II to investigate odd cases. Arthur Bryant is your classic oddball detective with unorthodox methods while his partner John May is the opposite. The plot involves a murder investigation in the Palace Theatre where a production of Orpheus In The Underworld is being performed and the principle cast members are being murdered. I found it a little confusing with the past and present switching around but I coudln't figure out who the murderer was which is always good and I liked that it wasn't too predictible!
