Army nurse, Sister Kit McNaughton, endured the horrors and hardships of the four years of World War 2.  Many experiences are revealed, quoted from Kit's diaries, and other sources.  They include comforting and caring for the troops in Egypt, Lemnos Island, France and England.  Kit ended the war as Australia's first plastic surgery nurse.

 

This book was the winner of the Australian History Prize at 2013 NSW Premier's History Awards.
