Life After Life is a compelling exploration of the pathways our lives take, and how a small change in an event or decision at any point can divert us onto a new path with a new endpoint. By repeatedly examining the "what if" question in describing the events in the life of her central character, Ursula, Kate Atkinson presents us with many possible lives, an approach which also allows her to examine life in Britain around and between the two World Wars from many points of view. This is a wonderfully structured and written book, and makes rewarding reading.
