‘Gorgeously romantic and partner ignoringly compulsive’ says the blurb on the cover. Whilst it may have some romance gorgeous is not the word I would use to describe it, however I would have to agree with the 'partner ignoringly compulsive' comment as I pretty much didn't put this book down from the moment I opened it. This is no literary tour-de-force but just a great read about an everyday girl who finds herself in a not so everyday predicament. Lou Clark is 26 years old when she loses her job at the local café in the small town she was born in. With little direction and no career ambitions she takes a job caring for a wealthy quadriplegic man purely because the money is good. Looking after a wheelchair bound angry young man proves challenging to begin with but nowhere near as challenging as what is to come. Reviewers on Goodreads said they cried buckets over this book and I couldn't wait to see if it would have the same effect on me (considering I can count on one hand the books I have cried in). Alas no tears but I still loved this book.
