Meg Gardiner has the ability to draw the reader into the plot and leave him/her, breathless in suspense.  This story starts in a disadvantaged area near L.A and deals with one 'at risk' young girl who manages to break away, and years later, through duplicity and deceit from a trusted friend, come close to disaster.
