I've read some amazing Australian novels lately and this is no exception. Rocks in the belly is a psychological drama that delves into the damaged mind of a 28 year old man who returns home to look after his terminally ill mother. As a child his mother and father fostered children and many of his problems as an adult are blamed on the jealousy he felt as a child. But just how much 'blame' can be be placed on these parents for the unstable adult this child becomes is a matter for debate. This is a thought provoking book that will lead to many a lively book club discussion.
