This book takes over where the last outing in the Star Trek franchise left off. Time wise the events occur shortly after the last TV episode of the 5th series spawned by Gene Rodenberry's fertile imagination finished. The fledgling "Federation" called a "Coalition" at this time, is still trying to get aliens to join the "Coalition", and it nicely brings together the story arc of how the traditional enemies of Star trek became the enemy. It features rolling fun with Romulans, Klingons, Vulcans, Andorians and Humans. And sets the scene for the classic "no win" scenario used throughout the other 4 Star Trek series - the Kobayashi Maru - but I don't want to spoil things for you the reader. I enjoyed it - kept me wanting to change the page to see what else they could come up with - what new cliff hanger - would really suit a film if there is to be one... Well worth a read.
