This is a beautifully written coming of age novel told through the eyes of 14 yr old June Elbus whose beloved uncle Finn has just died from AIDS. At the funeral June catches the eye of a man she has never seen before and it later becomes apparent that this is her uncle’s much reviled boyfriend who the family blames for his death. As she begins a clandestine relationship with this man June also begins a journey of healing and self discovery. This is very much a story about complex family relationships, love, grief, and regrets. If you like this kind of thing you'll love this book but if you like a bit of action it may be a bit slow.
