This book kept me entralled to the end. It covers a couple of days before the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in 2001. Set in Florida, the book centres around three main characters; April a single mother, separated father AJ and would be terrorist Bassam. The lives of these three vastly different people become intertwined around events in the Puma Club where April works as a stripper. In the Garden of Last Days, Andre Dubus's underlying theme is of the differences between the two very different cultures of narrow minded Muslim extremism and the more liberal hedonistic American culture. Over the top of this theme is a suspenseful page turner that you can't put down.
