I don't believe that this was a smooth transition to writing for children, maybe in book 2. I also won't be surprised if this isn't made into a movie! Enclyclopaedia Brown is believable, this isn't even plausible!
Biggest complaint? A huge cliffhanger, in which Grisham refuses to wrap up the plot we've been following for 250-plus pages. Could have been shorter.

I found John Grisham to be stilted and a bit condescending. Stick to adult fiction!
