I'm always a little apprehensive starting a new series by a favourite author - will I like the new world, magic, characters and story? Well I was certainly not disappointed with the latest book by Sharon Shinn, Troubled Waters. In this new fantasy world people believe they are ruled by the five elements (air, wood, fire, water, earth) and Zoe while mourning the death of her father goes to the royal city where she is immersed in the intrigue, secret agendas and political scheming of the wives of the king. As her powers and maturity develops she discovers she is the Coru prime which is the highest rank for water and she must decide on how to use this gift for the good of the kingdom.
