The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust are launching The Story of Bungaree on Thursday 20 May, 10:30am at Georges Heights Lookout. The local community are invited.

The Story of Bungaree is a richly illustrated history of a significant Aborigine who lived in early Sydney. Bungaree was the first Aborigine to circumnavigate the continent as a member of Matthew Flinders' histoic jounrey exploration in 1802-03. In 1815 Governor Macquarie put him in charge of a farm on Georges Heights, an attempt to introduce Aboriginal people to the settled life of agriculture.

Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales, will launch the book. The launch coincides with the bicentennary of Lachlan Macquarie's first year as Governor of New South Wales in 1810.
