Mr Rosenblum's List - Natasha Solomons

This is a lovely book all about belonging. Mr Rosenblum,his wife Sadie and baby daughter, Elizabeth escape from Berlin to London on the eve of World War 2. Upon arrival they are presented with a pamphlet on how to act like the English and Mr Rosenblum takes to his list with enthusiasm, ticking off the things he has acquired and achieved and annotating it where necessary (much to his wife's dismay - she feels that he is too keen to forget his past and where he came from). The only thing that eludes Mr Rosenblum is membership to an English Golf Club so he decides to build his own in a village in Dorset and it is here that Mr Rosenblum finally feels that he belongs, not only as a Dorsetman but to his wife Sadie and his beloved daughter Elizabeth.
