Amos Walker is one tough private eye whose repertoie of wisecracks seems bottomless. In this latest adventure, set in the decaying city of Detroit, Walker is retained by a police officer to help convince his daugher-in-law's brother to quit a dangerous Mexican gang. Of course like all of these adventures, a simple assignment gets complicated once the bodies start piling up. During the course of his investigation, Walker finds himself involved with a number of colorful characters who populate the Mexicantown neighborhood, and as a final twist, encounters an old nemesis who threatens to return in another story.
Estleman is a fantastic writer, and it is amazing to consider he has banged out over seventy novels, twenty-four of which are about Amos Walker. They are fun to read, and Walker is the private eye I would hire if I ever needed one!!!
