On a cold wintry afternoon, this is an excellent warm-hearted read. Ms Higgs, author of thirty books, weaves a tale of how a train, stopped by snow drifts in Victorian Scotland, sets in motion a trail of events that complete a circle started 12 years before.  As well as struggling in the snow, the characters struggle to find love and belonging, and in so doing, discover the true meaning of Christmas.
