Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence

Book 1 in a new series called The Broken Empire starts with the novel The Prince of Thorns. It is a dark and brutal story but an intriguing revenge based fantasy novel at the same time. It was refreshing to have the main character be portrayed as a immoral/evil man and for the author to manage to make you feel sympathetic towards him and his plight. It was a quick read but a fascinating one and I can't wait to see what happens in the next books!
