A very funny and entertaining read. An Australian woman recounts her move to Paris to be with her lover, Frederic. She talks about daily life in Paris, the French people and her cute West Highland Terrier, Maddie. This is an engaging, endearing view of the people and places in France.

I loved this book and got 'hooked' on wanting to go to Paris. On dull wintery days like today, I think we could all do with a bit of the sparkle that French women exude. For instance, in the book Sarah writes about going to the butchers shop in her trackydaks but her husband is up in arms, "think of the butcher!" he exclaims, wanting to save the poor man the unsightly view of her in such a daggy clothes! I like to follow the French way ... make an effort, it lifts the spirits. (Particularly in fashionable Mosman!)

Oh, I loved this book. I read it a while ago but only recently went to Paris for the first time and I have to say I was thinking of this book as I packed my bags so I wouldn't be roaming around the streets looking like a totally daggy, scruffy backpacker and offending the locals. I liked the fact that this book didn't overly romaticise her attempts to make a life in Paris and was honest about the troubles and doubts she faced long the way.
