What a perfect novel to read to coincide with the release of Baz Luhrman's new movie The Great Gatsby!

The novel is a fictionalised biography based on the relationship of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is well written and researched told in Zelda's own voice so we are only geting her prespective of the relationship. However it does give us an idea of what her life was like with the great author and how difficult it was for her to be a creative person in her own right living in his shadow. Her mental illness is also shown from a very personal perspective.

It is apparent from the novel how deep and passionate their relationship was and what caused it to ultimatey fail.

I loved this book and it has whet my appetitite to read more on this fascinating couple, their friends and the so called 'Jazz Age'. Oh and also to go back and re-read F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda's own novel and short stories! I am going to be busy!

Highly recommended.
