Countdown to 'The Reading Hour'!

Reading aloud to children is one of the most rewarding aspects of parenting in the early years and you only have to see a child's rapt little face to know that this is a much-loved activity for them also. Reading aloud is not always possible every night but if you can manage 10 minutes most nights (or days) you will be well on the way to instilling a love of books and reading in your child, something that will enrich their lives for many years to come.

As part of The National Year of Reading 2012, and to promote this important activity, August 25 (between the hours of 6 and 7pm) has been designated The Reading Hour. Activities will be taking place at local bookshops on the day and leading up to the event itself.

Here at Mosman Library we are celebrating with a free workshop The Joy of Story with Helen Pearson who will be sharing her love of reading and promoting the benefits of reading aloud to your child. Join us on Tuesday August 21 at 7pm for this inspiring National Year of Reading event.
