Mosman can now claim its very own literary prize for fiction with Fiona MacGregor taking out the $20,000 for her novel Indelible Ink set in our very own suburb. According to the author winning a Melbourne prize was unexpected but she was especially pleased to be flying the flag for female writer’s who have failed to make the Miles Franklin shortlist 2 out of 3 years. The novel is about a middle aged woman with 3 grown children who in light of a recent divorce chooses one night to get a tattoo, a decision which proves to be life changing. Through this one event Marie is introduced to another side of life that is far removed from her previous North Shore existence. If you haven’t read this interesting book look out for it on the shelves when you next visit the library. Fiona MacGregor is also the author of 4 previous books including the highly acclaimed travel memoir Chemical Museums, 2 novels and a book of short stories.
