Happiest refugee :the extraordinary true story of a boy's journey from starvation at sea to becoming one of Australia's best-loved comedians by Anh Do.

Remember the outcry against the Vietnamese boat people? Sounds familiar. Comedian Anh Do was amongst them. I really enjoyed this laugh-out-loud, reach-for-your-hanky story of one of Australia's best-loved comedians. He is a well-known comedian and came very close to winning Dancing with the Stars but his story has many more twists and turns.
Anh turned to his family for their accounts of why they left Vietnam and how they arrived in Australia.  His entire family came close to losing their lives on the sea ...
It's an incredible, uplifting and inspiring life story of one of our favourite personalities. Tragedy, humour, heartache and lots of food references.

I loved this book.  It was so inspiring, a real "feel good" true story about a family who overcame all sorts of hardships to build a life for themselves in a new land.  Anh writes with feeling and compassion, and his story is an easy-to-read tale that will lift your spirits.

Glad you enjoyed it too, Jane.

I really liked this book too - it's a shame that I took so long to read it! A very honest, moving and funny biography.

Can't wait for the movie! (Just joking)...Although his brother is in the movie business
