A wonderful story by Irish Sebastian Barry about Irish soldiers fighting for the British Empire in WWI & Irish patriots in the 1916 Easter Uprising. His poetic writing beautiful achingly sad and ruthlessly honest. Submitted by a Read, review and Win Reviewer

Just been listening to ABC radio 702 and they have just started a listeners book club and the book for February is anothe book by Sebastian Bary- the Secret Sriptures.Barry is a great Irish writer and I think 'Secret Scriptures' was shortlisted for the 2008 Man Booker Prize. Apparently he bases his novels on stories from his own family history.
I have A Long Long Way on my bedside table to read and was attracted to it because of the Irish History.
Idon't think it fits our War/Adventure genre descriptors at Mosman Library but I will wait till I read it to make a decision.
Sounds good, might add it to the book list.
